CHARLES DICKENS

Charles John Huffam Dickens (better known as Charles Dickens) was a very important writer and it is considered as one of the most important writers in the history of english literature. In this little blog, we are going to talk about somethings about him, like his biography and some aspects about his work. Well, let's begin with his biography. Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth (a city on the south of England) in 1812. He had seven brothers, was kind of a big family. He lived with his two parents, named Elizabeth and John Dickens. The Dickens family wasn't rich or anything like that, and Dickens had to work to help his family. They lived under sad circumstances.  When he was like 18 years old he had many jobs like journalist and things like that. He married a girl named Catherine Thompson and they had a lot of kids, 10 kids to be accurate. He kept working in papers of England. An interesting fact about him is that he was anglicane. Charles, most of his works were written based on what he has lived (their experiences). The first important work that he did or write, was Oliver Twist that was published in 1838 and it was considered like a autobiography, even though, it was very succesfull. Thanks to the work he did could gain a reputation. Dickens travelled a lot and lived in differents places in the world, like the USA, Italy and Switzerland for example. His biggest work was David Copperfield, published in 1850, which is considered the most autobiographical, it reflects christian unitarianism. A curious fact about that work was that it was published in mensual chapters. He liked theater very much. He suffered a lot when his father, one daughter and his sister Fanny died, that affected him a lot. He had an accident in 1865, when a train that he was in felt off a bridge, crashed and the only wagon that did not fall was that of Dickens. He attended to the wounded before rescuers arrived. He was sick and died of an apoplexy in 1870. Many people were sad about his dead, he had created a fame of a big writer and that is how he's remembered nowadays.
