1. Synopsis:

 

The work of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens began to publish monthly appearance for two years (1837-1839) in a renowned British magazine. This was the second and most important work done by Dickens.

It was originally written in English and is based on a child who lived his entire childhood in an orphanage since her mother died when he was born. Once the boy, named Oliver Twist Mr Bumble grew that the orphanage was the owner decides to take him to work in a funeral home next to a man who was undertaker, Oliver does not like the idea and decided to return to the orphanage.

Twist then go to London and meets a band of thieves is led by an old Jew, Fagin which accepts Oliver as part of the band of thieves.

Days after robbing Fagin sends Oliver along with other thieves tried to rob an old man named Mr. Brownlow, but realized this and impidido, thieves do not accuse the police, however Mr. Brownlow rescues him from the band of old Fagin.

Time after Fagin is sentenced to hang for all crimes committed at that time Oliver realizes that he was the closest relative to Fagin and Oliver therefore keeps all the fortune he had earned as a thief Fagin.

Oliver is adopted by Mr. Brownlow.

 

2. Characters:

 

Oliver Twist: The main character in the novel, was orphaned at birth because his mother died in childbirth, he spent his childhood in an orphanage in London.

 

Fagin: Old and crafty Jew with a beard who was poor until they formed a gang of thieves which was the main character of the work, Oliver.

 

Mr. Bumbler: Owner of the orphanage where Oliver was born, this man mistreated the children who lived in the orphanage and the name of Oliver put it on.

 

Mr. Brownlow: An old man tries to steal which Oliver and this man has compassion, feeds him and then adopts it.

 

John Dawkins: One of Oliver's companions in the band of thieves, this young man is also known as the Artful Dodger.

 

Charley Bates, Nancy and Betsy: They were part of Fagin's gang of thieves.

 

3.Aspects:

 

Historical aspects 

 

 

Political Aspects: Fagin is sentenced to hang for all offences committed agains Londin and agains the children themselves were used by him. there was the " Law of the poor" who said that the parishes of London had to take care of children or people who find the street feedind them, and a place to sleep.

 

Economics: The problem that had a lot of people who had many children who could not keep up and most of them died from diseases and other things. With the rise of " Industrial Revolution" were invented and factories as cheap labor needed to work there, the country people went to town and changed their lifestyle because the workers earned more money to live better.

 

Social Aspects: The most abudant society is poor, an example is that Oliver Twist is immersed in poverty and has to leave it stealing or doing bad things. After that is the Industrial Bourgeoisie owners of these factories and the Sr. Bumble who owns the hospice where Oliver is born. There is also another class called proletarian society or "proletarians" who are those people without property and remaining for a salary for their work, (those who workes in the factory).

 

Religion Aspecst: Just name the parish was responsible for caring for the poor.

 

Cultura Aspects: There is nothing.

 

Historical aspects os the times: relates the consequences that brings the Industrial Revolution in the period from mid-eighteenth century until the late nineteenth century, is characterized by capitalism, and machinery industries appear because the birth os capitalism allowed the establishment of an economic system based on money that enabled the pursuit of economic beneficts. The machines: industrial production and the need for new weapons to equip the armies led direct capital demands. The industrial revolution was characterized by the development of new products. After 1750 the industry work was no longer a necessity to live, became an end. Wages also declined due to competition from the machine. But after 1750 when we really begin the great industrial change, and present several distinct stages in relation to industrial development experienced.
